—MIT.nano Director Vladimir Bulović

Opening this week, MIT.nano (https://news.mit.edu/2018/mit-nano-building-open-0924?utm_source=Newsletter+Mailing+List+2018&utm_campaign=24070dea97-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2018_09_14_04_17&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_e8c603942d-24070dea97-296414913) is the largest university research facility for nanotechnology in the nation. And it's located right in the heart of campus, just off the Infinite Corridor (https://mitadmissions.org/help/faq/infinite-corridor/?utm_source=Newsletter+Mailing+List+2018&utm_campaign=24070dea97-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2018_09_14_04_17&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_e8c603942d-24070dea97-296414913) ! The 214,000-square-foot building includes two floors of connected clean-room spaces that are open to view from the outside and available for use by researchers across the Institute. It also features an entire floor of undergraduate chemistry teaching labs.

** MIT chaplain on religion, ethics, and her new role
------------------------------------------------------------
The Reverend Kirstin C. Boswell-Ford (https://studentlife.mit.edu/rl/who-we-are/rev-kirstin-c-boswell-ford?utm_source=Newsletter+Mailing+List+2018&utm_campaign=24070dea97-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2018_09_14_04_17&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_e8c603942d-24070dea97-296414913) , director of the Office of Religious, Spiritual, and Ethical Life, was installed officially as chaplain to the Institute at a ceremony on September 28. ** One month of baby steps
------------------------------------------------------------
First-year student and new blogger Kathleen is a big fan of data, so much so that she collected the number of steps she took last month and turned it into a bar graph (https://mitadmissions.org/blogs/entry/one-month-of-baby-steps/?utm_source=Newsletter+Mailing+List+2018&utm_campaign=24070dea97-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2018_09_14_04_17&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_e8c603942d-24070dea97-296414913) . She says data "can reduce complicated phenomena (like my transition to college) into comfortingly simple sets of values (like a step count)."

** Reminders for Early Action applicants
------------------------------------------------------------
The Early Action (EA) deadline is
November 1, so make sure you submit both Parts 1 and 2 of the application if you're planning to apply EA. Keep in mind there's no difference between applying Early Action versus Regular Action other than the timing!
