Dear students and families,

We write to share an update provided by the College Board regarding ASL’s
missing AP exams. We have been informed that one of the missing boxes of
exams, most likely from the second week of AP testing, has been located. We
expect to have more specific information by the end of the day on Tuesday,
3 September, after the Monday Labor Day holiday in the United States. We
will communicate any new information as soon as we can.

The search for the remainder of the materials continues, and this new
development gives us at least some hope that the rest of the exams will
also be located. Nonetheless, this continues to be a frustrating and
worrisome situation for all. We remain in daily contact with the College
Board and continue to work with students, families and colleges to reduce
the impact of this issue.

Thank you to the families and students who were able to attend Wednesday
night’s information meeting at ASL. We have asked the College Board for
answers to all of the questions that were raised for which ASL does not
currently have answers, and they have agreed to respond. However, given the
news that at least some of the missing exams have been located, we do not
expect a response from the College Board until later next week when the
situation is clearer. We appreciate your patience over the next few days.

Given the update from the College Board, we have decided to put a hold on
the scheduling of re-tests pending additional information. We will not
return any decision letters that have been submitted at ASL to the College
Board at this time. If you have not yet returned your decision letter to
ASL, please wait to do so until we know more.

We know that some members of the Class of 2019 need exam scores for the
purposes of college placement or credit and that the timeline for this may
be urgent. If this is the case, please let us know immediately, as our
college counselors are working daily to contact colleges to explain the
situation on your behalf.

Again, we are truly sorry for the stress and anxiety caused by this
situation, but we hope to have at least some good news soon.
