One big thing you'll definitely notice if you're living here in Durham is the UK's largest light festival. This weekend thousands of people [https://www.itv.com/news/tyne-tees/2019-11-18/durham-lumiere-marks-decade-with-successful-2019-as-total-visitors-top-1m/] flocked to the historic city centre to be dazzled by the stunning large-scale illuminations. 
 
The festival invites local and international artists to create artworks that transform iconic buildings such as the Cathedral - adding a touch of magic and colour.
Celebrating its 10th anniversary, Lumiere featured 37 artworks [https://www.lumiere-festival.com/programme-2019/] across the city. A bi-annual event, Lumiere will be returning to Durham in 2021 and will definitely be worth adding to your busy social calendar.
