Hi Anna,

As an artist at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts, you'll be part of a community that collaborates between majors and across Tufts' two campuses. Whether you're interested in the BFA, Combined Degree, or Studio Art minor, the entire university is your home.

Meet Wilamina. Wilamina is a BFA student at SMFA at Tufts, and she's just one member of our community of engaged artists.

"I use animal imagery to explore issues of mental health. I find that it's easier to explore difficult topics when I can create a little distance between the viewer and non-human characters, like in Aesop's fables. It gives the viewer space, and that comfort opens up the possibility of better understanding. I want to give people the vocabulary to start a conversation because that kind of intimacy can feel scary." —Wilamina Heifner '21

Bachelor of Fine Arts
The BFA program is an immersive 4-year studio art program supported by the rich academic resources of the entire university. If your focus is on building a strong set of skills in the studio as well as crafting and amplifying your voice through immersion in any subject, from Environmental Science to Psychology, Art History to Astrophysics, the BFA might be the program for you.

Combined Degree (BFA+BA/BS)
The 5-year Combined Degree program offers an integrated experience in which students will spend half of their time in the studio and half of their time pursuing a second degree (BA or BS) in an area of their choice. If you're as passionate about earning your degree in economics (for example) as you are about earning your BFA, the Combined Degree might be for you.
