What campus communities are you thankful for?

Our students tell us the campus communities they form are the source of some of their most meaningful experiences at Northwestern. So we asked some of them to identify their favorites. Here are just a few that made their lists:

The New Student and Family Programs <https://www.northwestern.edu/orientation/> (NSFP) Office | "Having served as a Peer Adviser <https://www.northwestern.edu/orientation/about-us/student-leaders/student-leadership-opportunities/Apply%20to%20be%20Peer%20Adviser/whatisapeeradviser/index.html> and on the Wildcat Welcome <https://www.northwestern.edu/orientation/incoming-students/wildcat-welcome/index.html> Board of Directors, this space has given me so much meaning. It is where I have found a family of diverse peers who work on creating intentional spaces . . . to create dialogue." --Isabel

Alternative Student Breaks <https://www.northwesternasb.com/> (ASB) | "ASB is a wonderful organization in that, since my pre-orientation trip, has made me feel a part of not only a club on campus but also a community of people who value the development of relationships, partnerships, and service. Because of that, there's an unparalleled level of respect within this community that's hard to find elsewhere." --Ellie

Norris Student Center <https://www.northwestern.edu/norris/>, "Norbucks" | "Norbucks is the way I caffeinate and get through the work week. I can always trust I'll run into someone I can catch up with over hot coffee." --Carter

The Multicultural Student Center <https://www.northwestern.edu/msa/> | "My Latinx community away from home." --Cindy

Camp Kesem <https://campkesem.org/northwestern/> | "Camp Kesem is an organization that holds week-long camps during the summer for children who have or had a parent with cancer. it's a great way to engage with other students and the greater Chicago and Midwest communities." --Daniel

Boomshaka <https://www.boomshaka.org/> (dance-percussion group) | "I joined Boomshaka freshman year and didn't really know what I was getting myself into; I realize now that I found a family on campus. We love making music and performing together, but also just being with each other and spending time together." --Emily

School of Education and Social Policy <https://www.sesp.northwestern.edu/ugrad/index.html> (SESP) Student Affairs Office | "Wholesome, Safe, Candy, Smiles" --Henry

My residence hall <https://www.northwestern.edu/living/housing-options/undergrad-housing/index.html>, Sargent | "I met some of my closest friends and enjoyed lots of fun programming like free food and movie nights. It's a community that I'm still close with even though I no longer live there." --Sophia

Significant Others <https://www.facebook.com/sigonu/> | "My a cappella group, Significant Others, has provided me with a space of full of women who inspire me to be the best version of myself. It's also really fun!" --Jessica

Many of our students will leave campus in the coming weeks to spend time with their loved ones over winter break. And because Northwestern builds and values community in countless ways, when they return to Evanston in 2020, it'll feel like coming home.

We look forward to seeing your Northwestern application soon and, in the meantime, wish you a wonderful start to the holiday season with your own loved ones.

Best wishes,

Liz Kinsley
Director of Undergraduate Admission
