One of the things we’re most proud of about our University is our 16 colleges located across the city of Durham. At this stage you may simply be asking 'What is a college?' [https://www.dur.ac.uk/experience/colleges/] 
It is a place you can call home - where you can live, meet people from across the world, and learn beyond the boundaries of your subject. You are guaranteed a room in college during your first year, and many students continue to live in college after that. But being part of a college means so much more...

Your college will be a home from home. It provides a small, friendly community of students from across the world and every subject. College is a place to make friends for life. Our students are loyal to their college and rate it as one of the best things about Durham.
There are all sorts of people in your college to help you at any time. They all have dedicated student support staff and student welfare volunteers. This means if you ever have an issue or want some advice, there is always a familiar face there to help.
Perhaps the best thing about college life is the really wide range of student-led activities on offer. From playing sport to organising social events or volunteering, college gives you the chance to gain skills for life and discover new interests.
