✓ Shop for basic necessities, pick up medicine, travel to work when you absolutely cannot work from home and exercise once a day – alone or with members of your household.

** Marking Passover in Westminster
------------------------------------------------------------
Wishing all our Jewish friends and neighbours a Happy Passover. Chag Kasher V'Sameach and Refuah Shleima to those who are unwell. This year we need the blessing of health more than ever. Please stay safe. Cllr Rachael Robathan - Leader of Westminster City Council.
A message from Rabbi Dr Thomas Salamon
"At this time of crisis that is sweeping the world, it is even more important for us to be united as people, irrespective of race, creed or religion. At this time when the Jewish community is celebrating Passover, we are reminded of the importance of freedom as well as of the need to bring all of humanity together so that we can defeat this invisible virus which is affecting us all, whoever we are, and wherever we live.

A nation, a people, are judged by their contribution to the society in which they live. It is, therefore, more than encouraging to see hundreds of thousands of people signing up to volunteer their help to the vulnerable, and those less able to fend for themselves. We see the sacrifice of our doctors, nurses and all the support staff who work in the NHS, those who deliver food to people in need or help keep our society safe. And all those who have to deal with the deceased under such extreme circumstances, supporting their families as best they can. It is heartening to see everyone demonstrating solidarity in these adverse times.

We Jews stand with the Muslim, Christian and with all faiths and no faiths communities so that we defeat this virus and then continue to work together to build a society in which everyone is treated with dignity and humanness."

- Emeritus Rabbi of Westminster Synagogue Rabbi Dr Thomas Salamon

** Latest from Westminster City Council
------------------------------------------------------------

Please find below the latest updates and advice on local services in response to coronavirus.

CITY LIONS: Yesterday, young people across the city sent in their submissions for the first City Lions challenge. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, until the 17th April, the team will be setting 3 creative challenges a week with a £10 Amazon voucher up for grabs for each challenge. The first challenge, Future Picasso, challenged young people to design self-portraits with any items found at home. Our winning entry was Jacob, aged 15, who impressively created his portrait using flour. You can see Jacob’s winning entry below alongside some of our runners up who, between them, used pencil sharpenings, cans, shoes and magazine clippings to create their self-portraits.

Today, young Westminster residents also participated in City Lion’s second day of virtual workshops. Kicking off the day, Chanelle Edwards, CEO of INOIR, led a session on how to run a successful fashion business. There is still the opportunity for your child to sign up to upcoming City Lions challenges here (https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/city-lions-easter-challenge-registration-101079511540?aff=mywestminster&utm_source=Combined+VFM+and+MyWestminster+List&utm_campaign=d9041d878a-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2020_03_22_10_27_COPY_02&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_bd2a0fcc47-d9041d878a-40059651) .

KEEPING YOUR CHILDREN BUSY THIS EASTER: The Family Information Service has under 5s home play resource packs to keep your young ones entertained. To arrange delivery of a pack call 020 7641 5923. You can also find more activities for under 5s on the Family Information Service webpage (https://fisd.westminster.gov.uk/kb5/westminster/fis/advice.page?id=Nc0WIs-q-U8&utm_source=Combined+VFM+and+MyWestminster+List&utm_campaign=d9041d878a-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2020_03_22_10_27_COPY_02&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_bd2a0fcc47-d9041d878a-40059651) . Young Westminster Foundation has developed a hub of online activities for school-age children, including virtual tours of sea lovers, audiobook adventures and platforms to develop their digital skills. ROUGH SLEEPING: The Council and its charity partners have put in a massive effort to support rough sleepers off the streets and into hotels and accommodation. We found that communicating with rough sleepers who were self-isolating was in some cases challenging and asked the Heart of London Business Alliance to seek support from businesses in their district. As a result, a big thank-you goes to Tesco Mobile who answered the call and made a generous donation of 200 mobile phones with credit to help our outreach teams stay in touch with rough sleepers currently isolating in hotel rooms and accommodation.

PUBLIC HEALTH ENGLAND: It’s easy to become worried about online information, some of which may be deliberately designed to mislead people. We are aware of a voice message being shared currently on social media regarding the ambulance response to coronavirus. The information being shared in the message is not correct. We would urge people to disregard the message and not share it further. For the accurate and timely latest public health advice please visit the official public health website here. ** Public health advice
------------------------------------------------------------
As of Wednesday 8 April, a total of 60,733 people have tested positive for coronavirus in the United Kingdom. Of those hospitalised, 7,097 have sadly died.

There are 420 confirmed cases in Westminster.

Currently, the number of confirmed cases does not reflect the likely number of individuals who have contracted coronavirus. This is because community testing is no longer being undertaken.

A new Coronavirus Status Checker (https://www.nhs.uk/coronavirus-status-checker?utm_source=COVID-19+Stakeholders&utm_campaign=9954bc6c1c-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2020_03_26_11_13_COPY_01&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_583e425dd6-9954bc6c1c-&utm_source=Combined+VFM+and+MyWestminster+List&utm_campaign=d9041d878a-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2020_03_22_10_27_COPY_02&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_bd2a0fcc47-d9041d878a-40059651) tool has been launched which will help the NHS understand more about how and where coronavirus is affecting people. The tool will help inform the response to the virus so please share this across your channels and with your stakeholders.

The Government has also produced a leaflet on what to do to help stop the spread of coronavirus, including information on symptoms and government support. The leaflet can be found here. (https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/coronavirus-covid-19-information-leaflet?utm_source=cd9e0a6f-590f-4123-8efb-f1f9d188a850&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=govuk-notifications&utm_content=immediate&utm_source=COVID-19+Stakeholders&utm_campaign=9954bc6c1c-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2020_03_26_11_13_COPY_01&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_583e425dd6-9954bc6c1c-&utm_source=Combined+VFM+and+MyWestminster+List&utm_campaign=d9041d878a-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2020_03_22_10_27_COPY_02&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_bd2a0fcc47-d9041d878a-40059651)

Everyone must stay at home to help stop the spread of coronavirus. This includes people of all ages – even if you do not have any symptoms or other health conditions.

** Do not leave your home if you have coronavirus symptoms
------------------------------------------------------------

Do not leave your home if you have either:
* a high temperature – this means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back (you do not need to measure your temperature)
* a new, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours (if you usually have a cough, it may be worse than usual)

To protect others, do not go to places such as a GP surgery, pharmacy or hospital. Stay at home.
If you are concerned then contact NHS 111 online (https://111.nhs.uk/covid-19?utm_source=Combined+VFM+and+MyWestminster+List&utm_campaign=d9041d878a-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2020_03_22_10_27_COPY_02&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_bd2a0fcc47-d9041d878a-40059651)
