Reflection

Dear Students and Families,

To finish out the year (and for Class of 2020, your secondary school
career!), starting on Tuesday, 26 May in the last four advisory meetings,
students will be working on a self-reflection about this year and their
"Approaches to Learning" (Collaborative, Respectful, Responsible,
Resilient, Engaged, Reflective).

The purpose: This self-reflection piece by students becomes part of an
ongoing record of student growth that can be used for internships, jobs,
letters of recommendation, and university applications. For younger
students, this will longitudinally catalog individual growth.

The outcome: While ATL's have typically been documented on the report card,
students will instead email this reflection to family, copy the advisor,
and upload onto MAIA Drive.  All information will be sent to students
through advisory.

There is no penalty for students who choose not to exercise their voice and
agency in this way. At the same time, advisors will not be expected to
chase students down. In other words, for students who don't participate,
the only outcome is that families will not receive this self-reflective
piece.
