WHAT SUPPORT IS AVAILABLE: Our Westminster Connects service (https://www.westminster.gov.uk/westminster-connects?utm_source=MyWestminster+Updates&utm_campaign=56c7133edb-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2020_03_22_10_27_COPY_01&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_bd2a0fcc47-56c7133edb-40059651) is here to support people who are vulnerable as a result of coronavirus. If you are concerned or need support, please call Westminster Connects on 020 7641 1222. The service is open from Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm.

We will soon be trialling a new, automated call system to check in with residents who were previously shielding. The system will provide you with text updates about the situation locally, and will call you once a month to see if you have any needs. You will receive a text the day before to let you know the call is coming. The call will take two to three minutes and will ask if you have any symptoms, whether you need food or medicine, and if you have any other needs with which we can help. If you answer yes to any of those questions, a council officer will call you back to find out how we can help.

If you prefer not to take an automated call, you can always call Westminster Connects directly on the number above.

Support Organisations: We have an interactive map (https://www.westminster.gov.uk/coronavirus-support-map-local-organisations?utm_source=MyWestminster+Updates&utm_campaign=56c7133edb-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2020_03_22_10_27_COPY_01&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_bd2a0fcc47-56c7133edb-40059651) for those who need help or know others who need support. We will continually update and expand the list of organisations included.

WEDDINGS IN WESTMINSTER: Since July 4, registrars at Old Marylebone Town Hall have held 509 wedding ceremonies, with a further 91 taking place at other approved venues. Amazingly, this accounts for ten per cent of all weddings carried out across England and Wales since they were allowed to restart back in July.

Liz and Harry Jefferies tied the knot in September at Old Marylebone Town Hall with just three guests, after restrictions limited the amount of attendees. “We wanted to marry at an iconic London town hall,” said Liz. “Old Marylebone Town Hall really stood out. The building is stunning and we loved its location in one of our favourite neighbourhoods.”

REDUCING OUR CARBON FOOTPRINT: We have set ourselves a goal of making all of Westminster carbon neutral by 2040. One approach to acheive that target is by switching lightbulbs, upgrading boilers, and installing modern heating technology in your homes. This not only reduces the carbon footprint, but also keeps your bills down.
