STAY SAFE WESTMINSTER: With the number of COVID-19 cases rising across London and Westminster, it is more important than ever that we all play a part in stopping the spread of the virus. Watch the above video to hear from Westminster’s Director of Public Health, Russell Styles.
TESTING IN WESTMINSTER: The mobile coronavirus testing unit will be available in Westminster tomorrow, Thursday 1 October, from 10.30am to 3.30pm at North Carriage Drive in Hyde Park.

Council updates
https://www.westminster.gov.uk/climate-emergency?utm_source=MyWestminster+Updates&utm_campaign=fe5ff8566e-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2020_03_22_10_27_COPY_01&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_bd2a0fcc47-fe5ff8566e-40059651
HELP US FIGHT CLIMATE CHANGE: While supporting Westminster through coronavirus is our number one concern, we cannot lose momentum in tackling the climate emergency.
Westminster has some of the highest carbon emissions and the worst air pollution in the UK, but we can make big changes if everyone works together. Our Climate Emergency declaration (https://www.westminster.gov.uk/westminster-declares-climate-emergency?utm_source=MyWestminster+Updates&utm_campaign=fe5ff8566e-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2020_03_22_10_27_COPY_01&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_bd2a0fcc47-fe5ff8566e-&utm_source=MyWestminster+Updates&utm_campaign=fe5ff8566e-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2020_03_22_10_27_COPY_01&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_bd2a0fcc47-fe5ff8566e-40059651) sets out our aim to become a carbon neutral council by 2030 and for Westminster to become a carbon neutral city by 2040. We want to hear from residents, businesses and communities about how we can work together to fight climate change.
WHAT WE'RE ALREADY DOING: We have earmarked an initial £5m to support a range of ambitious environmental projects (https://www.westminster.gov.uk/budget-prioritise-new-homes-and-climate-change?utm_source=MyWestminster+Updates&utm_campaign=fe5ff8566e-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2020_03_22_10_27_COPY_01&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_bd2a0fcc47-fe5ff8566e-&utm_source=MyWestminster+Updates&utm_campaign=fe5ff8566e-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2020_03_22_10_27_COPY_01&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_bd2a0fcc47-fe5ff8566e-40059651) and we are looking at sustainable ways to recover from lockdown that allow us to make improvements in air quality, find opportunities in the green economy and save money at home through less energy use.
https://www.westminster.gov.uk/climate-emergency?utm_source=MyWestminster+Updates&utm_campaign=fe5ff8566e-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2020_03_22_10_27_COPY_01&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_bd2a0fcc47-fe5ff8566e-40059651
We’ve already introduced a variety of measures to make Westminster’s air cleaner, such as reducing traffic around schools or making it more expensive for the most polluting cars to drive into the City. We are helping to reduce carbon emissions by increasing electric vehicle infrastructure, making it easier to walk and cycle, and making our buildings more sustainable.
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?: The council is developing an action plan which will illustrate how we intend to go further to meet our targets. We want to hear what you think is important. Visit our website to read more and share your ideas (https://www.westminster.gov.uk/climate-emergency?utm_source=MyWestminster+Updates&utm_campaign=fe5ff8566e-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2020_03_22_10_27_COPY_01&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_bd2a0fcc47-fe5ff8566e-&utm_source=MyWestminster+Updates&utm_campaign=fe5ff8566e-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2020_03_22_10_27_COPY_01&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_bd2a0fcc47-fe5ff8566e-40059651) .
