BOOK YOUR VACCINE TODAY: More and more people are getting their COVID-19 vaccinations and, like Westminster resident Hassan in the above video (https://youtu.be/goS09sKXdxQ?utm_source=MyWestminster+Updates&utm_campaign=bb25b9af59-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2020_03_22_10_27_COPY_01&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_bd2a0fcc47-bb25b9af59-40059651) , experiencing the joy and relief that comes with knowing his parents are protected.

If you are aged 65 or over, at high risk (clinically extremely vulnerable), you live or work in a care home, you are a health or social care worker or you are eligible for Carer's Allowance, you can now book your COVID-19 vaccination appointment without needing an invitation letter by visiting the NHS vaccination website (https://www.nhs.uk/covid-vaccination?utm_source=MyWestminster+Updates&utm_campaign=bb25b9af59-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2020_03_22_10_27_COPY_01&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_bd2a0fcc47-bb25b9af59-40059651) or calling NHS 119, free of charge.

If you are at moderate risk (clinically vulnerable), the NHS will be in touch to invite you for an appointment.

Our vaccinations page has all the details on getting protected in Westminster (https://www.westminster.gov.uk/vaccinations?utm_source=MyWestminster+Updates&utm_campaign=bb25b9af59-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2020_03_22_10_27_COPY_01&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_bd2a0fcc47-bb25b9af59-40059651) , including a list of FAQs to answer any concerns.

VACCINATIONS FOR PEOPLE WITH LEARNING DISABILITIES: People with a learning disability are now eligible to receive their free COVID-19 vaccination.

Anyone with a learning disability will be invited by their GP to take the COVID-19 vaccine. If you have a learning disability, it’s a good idea to talk to your GP in case you are not already on the learning disability register.

ROADMAP OUT OF LOCKDOWN: Earlier this week, the Government set out its phased roadmap to bring England out of national lockdown. Along with the rest of the country, Westminster will begin to lift restrictions in four steps, starting from Monday 8 March.

The first step sees the reopening of schools, the option to meet one other person outdoors for COVID-safe socialising or exercising and, later in March, outdoor sports and leisure facilities reopening along with a return to the Rule of Six for meeting people outdoors.

Further stages will follow in five-week-minimum intervals and will see greater lifting of restrictions on daily life, including the reopening of all non-essential retail. You can read full details of the roadmap to recovery here (https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/covid-19-response-spring-2021?utm_source=MyWestminster+Updates&utm_campaign=bb25b9af59-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2020_03_22_10_27_COPY_01&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_bd2a0fcc47-bb25b9af59-40059651) and we will continue to keep you updated via our website, newsletters and social media pages.

OUTDOOR DINING RETURNS TO WESTMINSTER: Our highly popular al fresco dining scheme will be returning on Monday 12 April, when restaurants, pubs and bars re-open to outdoor diners. The scheme will remain throughout the summer until the end of September.

The temporary measures were introduced when lockdown restrictions eased in July last year and brought much needed confidence back to our streets. Since then, more than 560 premises provided outdoor dining and 60 streets across our City were transformed.

“We know how hard lockdown has been,” says Cllr Rachael Robathan, Leader of Westminster Council. “That is why we are relaunching our al fresco scheme as soon as the easing of restrictions allows. We have more pubs, restaurants and bars than any other local authority area and we want to see them welcoming back customers in a safe way.”

HEADING BACK TO SCHOOL: In line with the roadmap announced by the government earlier this week, all pupils are expected to return to their schools for full-time education from Monday 8 March. Safety is of utmost priority as face-to-face teaching resumes for everyone, and existing COVID-19 measures have been strengthened to keep children and staff safe. These include:
* ‘Bubble systems’ remaining in place.
* The School Streets programme (https://www.westminster.gov.uk/coronavirus-information-schools-and-nurseries?utm_source=MyWestminster+Updates&utm_campaign=bb25b9af59-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2020_03_22_10_27_COPY_01&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_bd2a0fcc47-bb25b9af59-40059651#school-streets) , temporary pedestrian and cycle zones located outside school entrances, which will resume from Monday 8 March.
* Enhanced cleaning, particularly in areas used by different groups and on frequently touched surfaces.
* Face coverings for staff and students in secondary schools and colleges in all areas where social distancing cannot be maintained.
* Two rapid symptom-free tests will be offered to secondary school and college students each week to use at home.

Find out more about the measures in place by visiting our website (http://westminster.gov.uk/back-to-school?utm_source=MyWestminster+Updates&utm_campaign=bb25b9af59-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2020_03_22_10_27_COPY_01&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_bd2a0fcc47-bb25b9af59-40059651) , or by contacting your child’s school directly.

MAKE YOUR VOICES HEARD WITH THE CENSUS: On Sunday 21 March, we’re asking all households across Westminster to take part in a once-in-a-decade survey (https://census.gov.uk/?utm_source=MyWestminster+Updates&utm_campaign=bb25b9af59-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2020_03_22_10_27_COPY_01&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_bd2a0fcc47-bb25b9af59-40059651) .

Due to the pandemic, the census will take place online. However, we understand that not all residents will have access to the internet, therefore you will also be able to complete the census via a paper version or over the telephone. From tomorrow, households will begin to receive an official postcard with information about the census. In addition, on Monday 1 March, a free contact centre will open if you need assistance with completing the census. Call on 0800 141 2021 to speak to an advisor.

The call centre opening times are:
* Mondays to Fridays: 8am to 8pm
* Saturdays: 8am to 1pm
* Sundays: closed

The census is vital in making sure we can best plan and fund crucial services such as healthcare, transport and housing. Your input is important so make your voice heard (https://census.gov.uk/?utm_source=MyWestminster+Updates&utm_campaign=bb25b9af59-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2020_03_22_10_27_COPY_01&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_bd2a0fcc47-bb25b9af59-40059651) !
