With subjects including Dorothy Parker and Harold Pinter, our one-off productions celebrating great writers have become an annual highlight. Directed by Tristram Powell (Talking Heads) and produced by Honor Borwick (The Favourite), previous performers include Alison Steadman, Eleanor Bron and Celia Imrie. Now with a star cast to be announced, the focus is on the fin de siècle Viennese author and dramatist Arthur Schitzler, whose work was scorned by the Nazis but inspired Stanley Kubrick & Tom Stoppard.

ETHEL ROSENBERG: AN AMERICAN TRAGEDY,

In June 1953 after the Rosenbergs were convicted of conspiracy to commit espionage for the Soviet Union, Ethel became the first woman in the US to be executed for a crime other than murder, a crime she almost certainly did not commit and the evidence for which was based on perjury from her own brother. Anne Sebba joins fellow award-winning biographer Clare Mulley to discuss the first book to have full use of Ethel Rosenberg's dramatic prison letters as well as new interviews with her sons and fellow prisoners.

JOSHUA COHEN: THE NETANHAYUS, 3 OCTOBER, 1PM

A rare UK event for the novelist & essayist The Washington Post called “maybe America’s greatest living writer”. Cohen's latest book The Netanyahus is pitched as a fictional account of ‘a minor and ultimately even negligible episode in the history of a very famous family’. In not-quite-upstate New York in the late 50s historian Ruben Blum finds himself the reluctant host to Benzion Netanyahu and family. He will discuss his illustrious career to date with Sunday Times special correspondent Josh Glancy.

Arena producer Sally Angel & editor Anthony Wall discuss the many Jewish subjects featured in the multi-award-winning arts documentary series – from Arthur Miller & Linda McCartney to Jonathan Miller & Amy Winehouse – as well as a specially filmed interview with Mel Brooks. Included in the ticket price is access to the Arena film, I Thought I Was Taller: A short history of Mel Brooks. This film is available to view on KPlayer for seven days from 3 October.
