NEW YEAR’S EVE FIREWORKS: The Mayor of London’s New Year’s Eve celebrations will return for this year. The fireworks display is a ticketed event, and tickets have now sold out. In order to attend the display, you must have a ticket. Our website contains full details (https://www.westminster.gov.uk/new-years-eve-fireworks-2022-information-businesses-and-residents) on how to view the event, as well as information about road closures, parking restrictions and other travel advice.

DON’T PEE OFF SOHO: We spend £950k on cleaning up Soho because of pee. And we’re tired of it. That’s why we’re saying #DontPeeOffSoho (https://www.westminster.gov.uk/news/council-installs-pee-paint-stop-visitors-urinating-soho) – taking action to stop revellers from peeing on the street, especially during New Year’s Eve celebrations. We’ve sprayed Soho with ‘anti-pee paint’, a substance that will give those relieving themselves a nasty surprise (https://youtube.com/shorts/AQNECho2JKY) . There are also 30 public toilets in the West End and this new year we encourage revellers to relieve themselves before they leave their venues. NEW YEAR SERVICES UPDATE: There are no current changes planned to our waste collection servcies during the New Year period. However, our libraries, leisure centres, community halls and other buildings will experience some changes to operating hours. THE GREAT CHRISTMAS CLEAR UP: Westminster has more than 25 recycling points for real Christmas trees. You can take your tree to a drop-off point from now until the end of the day on 8 January 2023. Opening hours are 8am to 8pm unless they are in parks, which close at 4.30pm. WINTER IN THE CITY: This winter, Westminster has a variety of free community and cultural activities (https://www.westminster.gov.uk/winter-in-the-city) for residents to enjoy; all will take place in warm and safe locations around the city. Our directory will help you to find things to do over the colder months. From your local library to the National Gallery there is plenty to do.

LOCAL PHARMACY SERVICES OVER THE NEW YEAR: Visiting your nearest pharmacy is a quick and convenient way to get clinical advice on minor health concerns. Find your nearest pharmacy (https://www.westminster.gov.uk/christmas-westminster/service-changes) and check their opening hours. Some pharmacies who normally open, may be closed or be closing early on Saturday 31 December, so check before you go.
