WINDRUSH 75 FILM, FASHION AND MUSIC FESTIVAL: This year marks 75 years since the HMT Empire Windrush arrived in Britain on 22 June 1948. To celebrate there will be a free film, fashion and music festival on 22 June at Picturehouse Central, from 12.30pm. Westminster residents can see films from the Windrush Caribbean Film Festival, dancing from Notting Hill Carnival Trust, and music performances from Heather Small, Omar (MBE) and much more! A WINDOW ON WINDRUSH: The Windrush Window exhibition (https://www.westminster.gov.uk/windrush) has been curated by artists Michael McMillan and Mia Morris, along with the council’s Global Majority network. It’s viewable until 20 July at 35 Church Street. The display is created from items loaned by Westminster residents and explores the migrant experience of African-Caribbean families from the Windrush generation.

CELEBRATING PRIDE: The Lord Mayor of Westminster this week hosted a reception that brought together community members and organisations to celebrate Pride month. During the evening attendees heard from Cllr Patrick Lilley, Rob Berkeley from BLCKOUTUK (https://blkoutuk.com/) , and Joshi Mayank from the Gay Indian Network (https://gayindiannetworklondon.com/) . WHERE’S ALL MY SOUL SISTAS? LEMME HEAR Y’ALL FLOW, SISTAS: Join us in Trafalgar Square this weekend for West End LIVE (http://www.westendlive.co.uk/) – two days of stellar performances from some of London’s most celebrated musicals. From The Lion King to Les Mis, Spitting Image to SpongeBob – there’s something for everyone as theatre’s biggest stars showcase the biggest hits alongside exciting new shows. The event is free and hugely popular. You don’t need to book, just turn up on the day and join in (http://www.westendlive.co.uk/) .
Hot weather is forecast for the West End LIVE weekend. Please bring water with you and drink plenty of fluids during the day, use sunscreen, wear a hat and loose, light-coloured clothing. Please be aware, there is no shade in Trafalgar Square or the entry queue.

ROOM TO BREATHE: To celebrate Clean Air Day, Cllr Paul Dimoldenberg visited St Mary’s Bryanston Square Primary School (https://youtu.be/r2XM8Kg7x70) earlier this week to host an assembly for the students. St Mary’s is one of our School Streets – roads that are closed to traffic at drop off and collection times to reduce pollution. We want to go above and beyond when it comes to air quality in the city. WINNING AWARDS AT EBURY: We are committed to building more housing, particularly social housing throughout Westminster and are working with communities across the city to deliver on this. GRENFELL ANNIVERSARY: This week we marked the sixth anniversary of the Grenfell tragedy. City Hall was lit up green to show our solidarity with those that lost their lives, those bereaved, and everyone that has been affected in the local community and beyond. JOIN US AT FULL COUNCIL: Is there an issue that matters to your community? We’re inviting anyone who lives, works or studies in Westminster to submit a question or petition in person to cabinet members. The online form is open (https://www.westminster.gov.uk/about-council/democracy/public-participation-full-council-meetings) until 2pm on 21 June, and the next meeting is on Wednesday 28 June, 7pm, at Old Marylebone Town Hall.

Sound checks will take place during the event between the times of 10am and 8pm (except for 7 July when the sound check will be at 9.30am). GET YOUR COVID SPRING BOOSTER: The last date to book your COVID-19 spring booster is 30 June. COVID vaccines have saved countless lives and helped us to live with the virus without restrictions. But protections against COVID fade over time. A spring booster dose is being offered to:
* adults aged 75 years and over
* residents in a care home for older adults
* those aged 5 years and over who are immunosuppressed

If you’re eligible, you can book on the National Booking Service (https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/covid-19/covid-19-vaccination/getting-a-booster-dose-of-the-covid-19-vaccine/) or NHS App.
