Head over to our Twitter feed (https://twitter.com/CityWestminster) to see videos from the celebrations.
“For me Windrush means resilience, it means struggle, it means hand work, it means proud people, it means for me a legacy of hard work and also knowing that anything that I wanted I had to work doubly hard but it was achievable.” — Heather Small

WESTMINSTER’S FIRST CITIZENS’ CLIMATE ASSEMBLY: A randomly selected group of fifty residents from all parts of Westminster will be coming together to hear about and discuss the climate emergency. They will make recommendations about what needs to happen and how things should change.
Hosted at the University of Westminster, Cllr Noble and leading expert speakers from Imperial College London, Groundwork UK, Westminster Cycling Campaign and more will join local community groups in supporting discussions on the following issue: How can we overcome the main barriers to Westminster becoming a net zero city by 2040 together? How do we ensure this is delivered in the fairest way?
This deliberative democracy approach opens the discussion to the wider community to get involved. Keep up to date with the Citizens’ Climate Assembly by signing up to the Environment Newsletter (https://westminster.us1.list-manage.com/subscribe?u=a50c8b0dd980669ef713b4cca&id=4f566bf19d) - we will be sharing the thoughts and discussions in our website (https://www.westminster.gov.uk/tackling-climate-change-westminster/residents-communities-and-climate-action/climate-assembly) next week as well as further details on how you can get involved.

REFUGEE WEEK: The leader of the council, Cllr Adam Hug visited the Cardinal Hume Centre as part of Refugee Week to hear migrants' stories. In Westminster we have a proud record of welcoming people and we want to build on that when next week when we vote on becoming a Council of Sanctuary.

This quilt, started two months ago, is an evolving work at the Cardinal Hume Centre in Westminster – capturing the lives of migrants who make the city their home. Cllr Adam Hug, was invited to try his hand at tapestry on the striking collage, which so far represents ten nations. The quilt was just one item on show as the Centre opened its doors as part of Refugee Week (https://refugeeweek.org.uk/) .
