FREE SCHOOL MEALS TO 14,000 CHILDREN IN A HUGE EXPANSION: Children aged three to 14 in Westminster will be able to receive a free school lunch in the most ambitious expansion of the free school meals programme seen in London. This builds on the free lunch programme for Westminster primary pupils which launched in January. Watch the video above to hear what adults and children thought about the scheme at St Barnabas School. HELPING RESIDENTS WITH A FAIRER BUDGET: At the meeting of the Full Council earlier this week, Leader of Westminster City Council, Cllr Adam Hug, set out the ways we are supporting residents during the cost of living crisis, including the free school meals (see above), freezing the main Westminster element of council tax and investing £167m in temporary housing. YOU REPORT IT, WE REPAIR IT: This week our street repair team has been out in your local area fixing a number of repairs to ensure Westminster is a safe place for everyone. This week’s repairs included fixing a pothole on Wigmore Street and replacing a lamppost on Maiden Lane that had been hit by a car. Make sure you use our Report It webtool to let us know of incidents near you (https://westminster.us1.list-manage.com/track/click?u=a50c8b0dd980669ef713b4cca&id=e8c804aaf0&e=b6cfdccf4d) .
JUNIOR DOCTORS STRIKE (13 to 15 March): Regardless of any strike action taking place, it is important that patients who need urgent medical care continue to get it. Information on the best way to access NHS services (https://www.nwlondonics.nhs.uk/Winter) .
TEACHERS STRIKE (15 to 16 March) Schools will be in touch with parents and families to inform them of what is happening on strike days. Some schools in Westminster will remain open whilst others will close partially or completely. This will depend on the numbers of staff striking in each school. If you have further questions about this, please contact your child’s school.

BUILDING A MORE INCLUSIVE CITY: We want to work with you to build a city that celebrates our diverse communities. The charter will be our commitment on how we will work with our communities, part of our pledge to create a Fairer Westminster. We have listened to feedback about the survey content and length, and have amended the questions and extended the consultation until 31 March. If you have already completed the survey, you don’t need to do it again. Have your say here (https://www.smartsurvey.co.uk/s/WCCchartercparticipation/) .

The NHS is asking everyone who it is sent the test to remember to complete it. The test detects signs of cancer before you notice anything wrong. It’s simple to complete and can be done in the privacy of your own bathroom. Find out more information (https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/bowel-cancer-screening/) .
