SILVER SUNDAY IS HERE: There is so much happening this weekend and beyond for Silver Sunday. The Lord Mayor of Westminster has recorded the above video message ahead of the weekend, and earlier today the Deputy Lord Mayor paid a visit to several of the city’s care homes to spread the Silver Sunday spirit (pictured below).

Silver Sunday was founded by Alderman Lady Christabel Flight. And there’s still time to sign up for many of this year’s events, including:
* Come along to the Embassy of Mexico (https://silversunday.org.uk/event/come-to-mexico-for-a-day/) – immerse yourself in Mexican culture through delightful food, engaging games, vibrant music, and spirited dance!
* Penfold Community Lunch (https://silversunday.org.uk/event/penfold-hub-community-lunch-2/) – meet up with local older residents from the Church Street area for a social lunch with a freshly cooked meal.
* Table Tennis at Moberly Sports Centre (https://silversunday.org.uk/event/table-tennis-moberly-sports-club/) – play, have fun and mingle.

See the full list of Silver Sunday events here (https://silversunday.org.uk/)
BLACK HISTORY MONTH: Next week kicks off Black History Month and we will be bringing you a whole month’s worth of free events, stories and celebrations recognising the achievements of the African and Caribbean communities in Westminster. Next week’s MyWestminster will bring you all the details so stay tuned!

FUNDING OUR COMMUNITIES: In England, when developers create new infrastructure, they must make financial contributions to the ‘Community Infrastructure Levy’. This funds new local projects, making sure growth benefits all our communities.

GET BOOSTED BEFORE WINTER: Vaccines are our best protection against flu and COVID-19. In winter, they spread more easily as we spend more time indoors. Getting the vaccines is the best way to keep yourself and others around you safe.
