OPENING OUR THIRD NEW HOUSING OFFICE: More help will be on hand for residents of estates in Westbourne and Bayswater as we opened our newest housing office this week (see above video for details (https://westminster.us1.list-manage.com/track/click?u=a50c8b0dd980669ef713b4cca&id=7c2f41ca53&e=7e37558eca) ). The new office at Shrewsbury Rd will be open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm to provide onsite assistance for residents including those living on the nearby Brunel and Wessex estates – improving access to housing services locally. You can speak to housing staff about issues including repairs, grounds maintenance or support paying your bills.

IMPROVING OUR RECYCLING: Thanks to our food waste recycling service, our recycling rate increased by 3.7%! “I’m delighted that Westminster is in the top 10 of most improved recycling rates nationally and top in London,” says Cllr Paul Dimoldenberg, Cabinet Member for City Management & Air Quality. Since we rolled out the food waste recycling service in 2022, we have collected more than 2,500 tonnes of food waste. A big thank you to all residents that are using the service!

If you’ve been the victim of hate crime, if someone is in immediate danger or needs support right away, then dial 999. Hate crime can also be reported online, by 101 on the phone or at a police station.

LUNAR NEW YEAR: To mark the ‘Year of the Dragon’, join us on Sunday 11 February for events and activities showcasing the rich culture and heritage of Westminster’s Chinese community. Events take place across Chinatown and the West End including activities in Trafalgar Square and Leicester Square, with a parade running from Duncannon Street, via Charing Cross Road to Shaftesbury Avenue.

COMMUNITY MOBILE RECYCLING CENTRE: Do you have any unused household items that need recycling but you’re not sure how? Many things like pots and pans, electrical, and textiles end up in the wrong recycling bins or the rubbish. To help, we’re bringing our Community Mobile Recycling Centre to Tollgate Gardens Community Centre on Saturday 3 February, we hope to see you there!

HOW SHOULD WE ALLOCATE SOCIAL HOUSING? We’re reviewing our Housing Allocations Scheme to make it simpler and fairer and want your views. The Scheme outlines how the Council will assess and prioritise people who apply for social housing. STREET PARKING CHARGES ARE CHANGING: We are joining other local authorities taking action to improve air quality in our city and would like your views on a new emissions-based charging parking system based on CO2 emissions levels. Vehicles that produce less emissions will be charged less – so the greener your car, the less you pay. Share your thoughts and learn more about the scheme by 14 February.

POP-UP HEALTH HUBS: Come along to one of the NHS’s pop-up Health Hubs listed below between 10am and 4pm to get a free health check. You can find out: your blood pressure; blood sugar levels; BMI; general health and wellbeing information; and have the option to get your MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) and flu vaccines and ask any questions.

The Health Hubs will be at:
