THE RESULTS ARE IN: It was a busy night at Lindley Hall counting the votes for the General Election and the Abbey Road Ward By-Election. The results are:
* Rachel Blake for the Labour Party wins Cities of London & Westminster
* Georgia Gould for the Labour Party wins Queen’s Park and Maida Vale

RESTORING A LEGACY: To mark the restoration of the Calvary war memorial, pupils at Hampden Gurney Church of England primary school (https://westminster.us1.list-manage.com/track/click?u=a50c8b0dd980669ef713b4cca&id=a9ace7e463&e=7e37558eca) have used archive photos and detail to create their own display at the nearby Heritage Fund memorial exhibition. The students have created their own interpretations of the war through art and made their own backdrops to soldiers who died. The Lord Mayor of Westminster attended the memorial with other dignitaries (pictured above).

NOT-SO HAPPY DAYS: Unfortunately, the list of tourists who’ve fallen afoul of dodgy pedicabs grows every day. We can now add Henry Winkler, also known as the Fonz from the hit show Happy Days to that list. From his account on X/Twitter, he said: “DO NOT take one of these bicycle taxis without absolutely negotiating the price first. This person in London rode us around in circles then finally to our destination 7 blocks away...for $170 US! My fault, I paid, but passenger beware!”

EXPLORE YOUR ARTISTIC SIDE THIS SUMMER: Inside Out is back for 2024! We have partnered with some brilliant organisations to bring the arts outdoors for everyone this summer. This week we went to check out ‘Rainbow Flags’ in Piccadilly by Adham Faramawy. THE SCREEN COMMUNITY: A Westminster Charity, funded by Westminster City Council, with a strong track record in providing professional skills training in Film, TV & Games Design is providing a Games Design & FX training programme for those aged 16 to 25. It starts Saturday 13 July at The Rebel Business School Harrow Road W9. 10.30am to 5pm for ten Saturdays.

TICK PROTECTION: With the arrival of summer, many of us will be heading to the countryside for camping, glamping, festivals, or long walks in fields. It’s important to remember ticks live in long grass fields in warmer weather and if you are bitten by a tick this can lead to serious health issues.

What to do if you suspect you have been bitten?
Remove ticks from your skin immediately. Always inspect the entire body for ticks after outdoor activities and remove ticks by pulling them straight out with tweezers or a specially designed tick removal tool, or use your fingers if nothing else is available.

VACCINATION POP-UPS: Come along to one of our pop-up health hubs across Westminster in partnership with the NHS – with no appointment needed. Adults can get a range of health checks for free and NHS professionals will be having conversations about measles and MMR. Our upcoming dates are:
