WINTER SUPPORT IS WAITING FOR YOU – DON’T MISS OUT: This autumn and winter, we’ve got you covered. Our dedicated webpage explains all the support you’re entitled to claim, as well as free, indoor events across the city. Special support is also available for older residents who are no longer receiving the winter fuel payment. Several dedicated funds have been set up to make sure our older residents can easily claim the support to which they are entitled.

This year the emphasis is on support for older people, and we are funding legal advice for our older residents through AgeUK on issues like help with heating costs.”

DOCKLESS BIKES: CEO of Lime, Wayne Ting (pictured above with Cllr Paul Dimoldenberg), visited City Hall to discuss managing dockless bikes across the city. The company has committed to improved geo fencing, meaning bikes should be able to be parked more considerately, with dedicated Westminster staff managing the bikes. Westminster City Council will also donate money raised through fines to a charity of the council’s choice.

SUPPORTING CHILDREN WITH SEND: We recognise the increasing demand for services for children with SEND, therefore we’ve invested £4 million in new facilities. These facilities are a place for children with SEND to experience unforgettable activities and develop vital skills, while giving their families time away from their caring responsibilities. They consist of sensory rooms, occupational therapy suites, soft play areas, classrooms and large outdoor spaces.

MEANWHILE ON: A huge welcome to By Rotation who has recently opened its first shop at 31 Brook Street thanks to our Meanwhile On programme, supporting new, local and emerging businesses to obtain economic opportunities across Westminster. It offers free or discounted rent for businesses that wouldn’t ordinarily be able to afford a prime location space.

By Rotation is one of many brands who are benefiting from the programme. It is the UK’s largest shared wardrobe that offers over 70,000 items for fashionistas to rent or resale. Designers such as Rixo, Self Portrait, Reformation, and Sleeper can all be worn by its community of style and environment-conscious shoppers, who are also transforming consumers’ behaviour towards fashion.

WESTMINSTER TOGETHER: It’s your chance to ask questions about council services, and to tell us about your experiences in Westminster and what’s important to you and your community. This will be an opportunity to celebrate successes, discuss our Fairer Westminster priorities, and speak to other residents. The next event is on Wednesday 20 November at Westminster Chapel, from 6.30pm.
As part of our Fairer Westminster Strategy anyone who lives, works or studies in Westminster is now invited to pose a question in-person at an Ordinary Full Council meeting, this can be about a local issue or a wider question about the council. The next public participation item will be included at the Full Council meeting on Wednesday 13 November.
