Storytelling lies at the heart of our heritage. At the Jewish Literary Foundation (https://jewishliteraryfoundation.co.uk/about-us) , we are dedicated to nurturing and celebrating this tradition, and sharing its many voices. We are thrilled to announce our upcoming in-person event (https://jewishliteraryfoundation.co.uk/events/in-conversation-with-jonathan-freedland) featuring Jonathan Freedland - a master of storytelling who has brought insight and intrigue to audiences through his Orwell Prize-winning journalism, compelling broadcasts, work for the stage, and bestselling thrillers.

A real Jewish Book Week favourite, Jonathan now follows the huge success of The Escape Artist with King Winter's Birthday, another new medium for his storytelling as it his first book for children. And the story behind the story is just as compelling; published by Pushkin Press and beautifully illustrated by Emily Sutton, it inspired by the unpublished König Winters Geburtstag: ein Märchen written by Ulrich Alexander Boschwitz, whose rediscovered novel The Passenger, written while Boschwitz was interned on the Isle of Man during WWII, became a Sunday Times bestseller when published by Pushkin in 2021.

In the intimate, central London setting of City Lit,Jonathan Freedland will be in conversation with Mark Malcolmson on Wednesday 27 November (https://www.citylit.ac.uk/courses/in-conversation-with-jonathan-freedland) , discussing his multi-award-winning career, from The Guardian and Radio 4 to his current projects.
