CELEBRATING WITH OUR COMMUNITIES: The festivities have officially begun! Communities gathered at our Christmas tree light switch-on events and have been getting into the holiday spirit. From Churchill Gardens to Marylebone, families and friends have come together to enjoy sparkling lights, festive music, and warm community cheer. And the excitement isn’t over—there are more events to come, so stay tuned for even more holiday magic.

DON’T MISS THE MAGIC AT MAIDA HILL MARKET: Get ready for festive fun at Maida Hill Market tomorrow. The market will be open from 9am to 6pm with Christmas celebrations happening from 3pm. Join the Lord Mayor as we light up the market and enjoy the sound of a live festive choir. Grab a hot chocolate, sing your heart out, and soak in the Christmas vibes. With plenty of seasonal treats and gifts, it’s the perfect way to kick off the festive season!

SUPPORT FOR WOMEN AND GIRLS: This week marks the start of 16 days of activism against gender-based violence, a UN Women initiative to help educate people about violence against women and girls (VAWG). Did you know there is a domestic abuse related call made to the police every 30 seconds? London councils and local organisations are marking the 16 days with a number of events and workshops across the capital, both online and in-person.

DISCOUNTED TICKETS FOR LONDON’S NEW YEAR’S EVE FIREWORKS: 100 pairs of reserved for Westminster residents. Final tickets for the Mayor of London’s spectacular New Year’s Eve fireworks go on sale at midday on Monday 2 December, and 100 pairs have been put aside for Westminster residents in the blue viewing area. Tickets cost £35 per person, including a £15 Londoners discount, with the code WCCFIREWORKS24! GET FUNDING FOR INSIDE OUT 2025: We’re inviting cultural organisations and creatives to apply for grants ranging from £1,000 to £10,000 to help bring exciting activities to life for residents and visitors. Inside Out is Westminster’s free, inclusive summer festival, turning the city’s streets and open spaces into vibrant hubs of art, culture, and entertainment.

Emergencies can happen anytime and affect anyone, so we want to understand how ready people feel and what might help the community be better prepared. This five-minute survey will help identify what works well, what challenges people face, and what resources would be useful in an emergency. HAS YOUR CHILD HAD THEIR VACCINATION: All children in school years reception to year 11 are encouraged to get their free flu vaccination at school. Vaccination UK are running free flu community catch up sessions for school aged-children who have missed their flu vaccination at school. Appointments can be made by calling 0204 603 3441 or emailing westminster at v-uk.co.uk (mailto:westminster at v-uk.co.uk) , walk-ins may be possible. The gelatine free flu injection will be available for those that require it.
