INSPIRING THE NEXT GENERATION OF LIONESSES: We had an amazing time celebrating the Lionesses’ historic win with 65,000 fans at their epic homecoming parade. Their victory brightened up the nation – and here in Westminster, we’re keeping that spirit alive by helping the next generation of girls get on the pitch. Through our ActiveWestminster partnership, we’re creating more opportunities for girls to get active, build confidence, and fall in love with football. From local training sessions to inclusive development programmes, there are clubs and activities for all ages and abilities right across the city. Whether it’s your first kick or you’re looking to develop your game, there’s something for everyone.

SPOTLIGHT ON THE QUEEN’S PARK BANGLADESH ASSOCIATION: This month we’re celebrating South Asian Heritage Month. For over 36 years, the Queen’s Park Bangladesh Association has been a pillar of support in North Paddington, addressing key challenges like housing, employment, and community wellbeing. They have delivered over 1,600 food parcels to vulnerable families, received an ActiveWestminster Mark accreditation that recognises their community impact and they have secured a home at Happy Hub in Queen’s Park after 13 years of perseverance. Thank you for your hard work in Westminster!

LAST DAY TO ENTER: Want to transform Little Venice with your art? We’re commissioning bold, permanent murals under two bridges along the canal. Today (Friday 1 August) is your last chance to apply and bring local stories to life and create something lasting for the community. The commission comes with a £50,000 design fee (plus VAT), and the final artwork will be installed in early 2026.

These improvements aim to reduce flooding, improve air quality, support local wildlife, and create attractive community spaces. IT’S WORLD BREASTFEEDING WEEK (1 - 7 AUGUST): Our new breastfeeding plan supports and encourages families across Westminster. We know there are common challenges including returning to work, lack of consistent support, and mixed advice. Mothers appreciate professional help but often face workplace and physical barriers. CHANGES TO OUR COMMUNITY EQUIPMENT SERVICES

We are making some changes to our community equipment services. From 4 August, we will start transferring work to a new organisation called 24-7 Healthcare. We will be contacting residents who have equipment at home to let them know directly about these arrangements.
