TACKLING ANTI-SOCIAL BEHAVIOUR: We are investing £3m over three years to fund nine new police officers dedicated to tackling anti-social behaviour (ASB). Working with the Metropolitan Police, the officers will join City Inspectors to form a new Police and Council Tasking Team (PACT). Their focus will be on:
* Targeting persistent ASB
* Providing a visible police presence on our streets
* Enforcing ASB and criminal laws

This initiative builds on other council ASB initiatives including the roll out of dozens of new CCTV cameras and the introduction of Public Space Protection Orders (PSPOs) across the City. Cllr Adam Hug, Leader of the Council, said: “Anti-social behaviour undermines our communities. This new team shows how seriously we take the issue, and we’ll keep using every tool available to keep Westminster safe.”

CRACKING DOWN ON NUISANCE VEHICLES: Illegal car meets are a blight on our communities and a risk to personal safety. We’re proposing to extend the Nuisance Vehicle PSPO to Mayfair and Soho after complaints of noisy engines and street racing. We’ve issued more than 350 fines to dangerous drivers and we’re working with the police to keep illegal racing off our streets.

SOHO’S FIRST EVENING MARKET IS HERE! Today we are launching the city’s first evening market at Rupert Street in Soho. With a line-up of global street food, vintage clothing, second-hand books, crafts and more, Rupert Street will reflect Soho’s unique character and provide something for everyone, from curious locals to visitors exploring the capital. It will also support small businesses and boost the local economy. Visit the new market, Monday through to Saturday, from 3pm to 10pm.

AL FRESCO IN ST MARTIN'S LANE: We also welcome the return of al fresco dining in St Martin’s Lane, as part of the Mayor’s Summer Streets initiative. Locals and visitors will be able to enjoy outdoor dining in one of the West End’s most iconic locations from today to 31 October. We are also considering a permanent scheme, working with partners to ensure St Martin’s lane remains a lively and welcoming destination.
WINTER FUEL PAYMENT SCAM
Scammers are sending text messages pretending to be from the DWP or HMRC about winter fuel payments. If you receive a text like this, do not click on any links in the message. Pensioners will automatically receive the winter fuel payment this winter if they are eligible. * The Measles, Mumps and Rubella (MMR) vaccine is especially vital for all children as cases of measles are rising in London.
* The 4-in-1 pre-school booster vaccine (against diphtheria, tetanus, whooping cough and polio) is also important for your child to get before returning to or joining nursery or pre-school.

CHANGES TO OUR COMMUNITY EQUIPMENT SERVICES

We are making some changes to our community equipment services. As of 4 August we have started transferring work to a new organisation called 24-7 Healthcare. We will be contacting residents who have equipment at home to let them know directly about these arrangements.
