HAVE YOUR SAY ON THE FUTURE OF REGENT STREET, HAYMARKET AND PICCADILLY CIRCUS: A once-in-a-generation opportunity is here. We’re engaging on plans to improve Regent Street, Haymarket and Piccadilly Circus, creating new public space in the heart of the West End. This is a major step towards delivering a greener, more accessible Westminster that supports active travel, vibrant communities and a thriving local economy.

Your views matter. Whether you live, work, study, visit or simply care about this part of London, your feedback will help shape the future of Regent Street, Haymarket and Piccadilly Circus. This is your chance to help design a greener, more inclusive, and people-friendly public realm that celebrates the area’s rich heritage while enhancing its future. OVER £680,000 AWARDED IN COMMUNITY GRANTS: We are delighted to have awarded more than £680,000 in grants this week to support local organisations through two flagship programmes: Culture and Community Grants and Greening Westminster.

Through our Culture and Community Grants Programme, over £180,000 has been awarded to a wide range of groups working across the arts, charitable services, and community initiatives. These projects help bring people together through creativity, culture, and connection. STUDENTS EXPERIENCE STEM IN THE FAST LANE AT MCLAREN LIVE: Students from Westminster’s local schools took part in the exciting McLaren F1 Racing Live event at Trafalgar Square ahead of the British Grand Prix this weekend. The event gave young people an opportunity to explore STEM  (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) in the thrilling context of Formula 1 racing.

Students engaged in interactive activities such as the pitstop challenge, car racing simulations, and even met McLaren engineers to learn how STEM powers the world of motorsport. From understanding aerodynamics to testing teamwork and precision, students experienced how classroom knowledge applies to real-world careers.

OUR PLAN TO BEAT THE HEAT: Westminster can be one of the hottest areas in London during heatwaves. With temperatures soaring to 33 degrees this week, we launched our Cool Neighbourhoods Strategy - the first borough-wide heat resilience plan of its kind in London to help tackle extreme heat in our city.

Heatwaves can be deadly and impact our most vulnerable residents the hardest. That’s why we’ve worked with local communities and experts to create a plan that helps everyone stay safe and cool.

CLIMATE FUND HELPS ST MARYLEBONE CE BRIDGE SEN SCHOOL GO GREEN: Thanks to a grant from the Westminster Climate Fund, St Marylebone CE Bridge SEN School in Queen’s Park have replaced their old diesel minibus with a brand-new electric vehicle. The new minibus is more reliable, accessible, and eco-friendly, helping pupils travel safely to off-site activities.

The Westminster Climate Fund is open now for applications. We’re offering grants to help businesses and organisations across Westminster save money on energy bills and reduce carbon emissions - whatever project you have in mind.

CLOSING SOON - YOUR CHANCE TO FEEDBACK ON SAFETY ORDERS: We are currently seeking your views on three Public Spaces Protection Orders (PSPO). These are intended to deal with persistent anti-social behaviour in a local area by imposing conditions to that area. You have until Sunday 6 July to feedback on two of the three orders currently out to consultation:
* On-street anti-social behaviour in South Westminster (consultation closes Sunday 6 July)
* Expanding the nuisance vehicle PSPO to cover a wider area (consultation closes Sunday 6 July)

PUPILS SHAPE HEALTHIER NEIGHBOURHOOD AT SUPERZONE: Located in the north of Westminster, the Edward Wilson Primary School Superzone puts children’s voices at its heart. Through workshops and engagement activities, pupils, parents, and staff have helped shape local priorities to make streets greener and safer, boosting air quality and active travel. Using Greater London Authority funding, Superzones are areas around schools within a 5–10-minute radius helping children to play safely, breathe clean air, be active, enjoy a healthy diet and thrive.
