HOW WE'RE DELIVERING A FAIRER WESTMINSTER FOR EVERYONE: We’re working hard to ensure every resident has the support, services, and opportunities they need to thrive. Our latest Fairer Westminster annual progress report shows the progress we're making - from Children’s Services being rated Outstanding by Ofsted for the third time in a row, to the delivery of over 160 new affordable homes, and nearly 500 London Living Wage jobs filled through the Westminster Works scheme. We’ve also expanded free school meals, and have secured £21.5m in grant funding through the Government’s Rough Sleeping Initiative.

NEW DEVELOPMENT FOR HUGUENOT HOUSE: A delivery partner has been selected to lead the redevelopment of Huguenot House, creating new homes, including more affordable housing, a cinema, hotel, office space, and improved public areas. Residents will be fully supported throughout the process, with secure tenants and resident leaseholders having the right to return once the new development is complete. Public consultation will begin soon, and the Council remains committed to keeping the community informed and involved during the process.

SOUTH ASIAN HERITAGE MONTH Today marks the start of South Asian Heritage Month 2025. From 18 July to 17 August, we celebrate and remember everyone in Westminster with South Asian histories, cultures, and communities. This year's theme theme is 'roots to routes' -  honouring our unique stories shaped by our roots. Watch our video to hear from Westminster Youth Council members as they proudly share why their own, or their friends’, South Asian heritage matters to them.

HISTORIC FOUNTAIN SPRINGS BACK TO LIFE: Have you spotted the hidden fountain in Victoria Embankment Gardens? Originally built in the 1950s and inspired by a 17th-century water tower that once supplied water to homes along the Strand, this unique structure had stood unused for over 20 years. Now beautifully restored by Westminster City Council - with its original teak finish and a brand new pumping system - it’s making a splash once again.

* Wash your hands after visiting farms or touching animals to reduce the risk of infection.
* Be mindful of ticks, especially in parks, grassy areas and the countryside: stick to clear paths, wear long sleeves and trousers, check your skin and clothes regularly, and remove any ticks carefully with fine-tipped tweezers.
