DANCE WESTMINSTER 2025: LET’S GET MOVING: Dance Westminster is back for its sixth spectacular year – bigger, bolder, and bursting with energy! This free and inclusive dance programme is open to disabled people aged 11 and over who live, work, or study in Westminster. Whether you’re a seasoned dancer or just love to move, it’s all about getting active and having fun! Join a workshop near you:
* 5 September, 2pm to 3.30pm at Forrester Court (ages 50+)
* 10 September, 10am to 12pm at College Park School (ages 11 to 17)
* 23 September, 10am to 12pm at North Paddington Youth Club (ages 18+)

Finalists will take centre stage at the Grand Final on 21 Oct, performing alongside professional dancers in front of a celebrity judging panel – and the audience will crown the People’s Champion!

NEW EVENING MARKET FOR SOHO: We’ve announced the launch of a brand-new evening market in Rupert Street, Soho, open Monday to Saturday, 3pm until 10pm, bringing a colourful mix of stalls and experiences to the heart of the West End and making Soho an even more exciting place to visit this summer. Rupert Street will be the city’s first ever evening market. ARE YOU ELIGIBLE FOR FREE SCHOOL MEALS? There are various universal schemes available that offers a free lunch to pupils attending Westminster schools. However, if you receive benefits, it’s important to check if you are eligible for the government’s Free School Meal scheme as it will entitle your child(ren) to supermarket vouchers during the school holidays, a free place for the Holiday Activities & Food (HAF) programme, free, nutritious healthy meals every school day, and savings of up to £500 per year in meal costs.

WESTMINSTER’S NEW PUBLIC REALM GUIDANCE HAS BEEN ADOPTED: The Public Realm Supplementary Planning Document sets out fresh guidance for designing our city’s streets and public spaces, prioritising inclusion, safety, and environmental sustainability. This will create vibrant, accessible, and welcoming neighbourhoods for all who live, work, and visit Westminster.

Scammers are sending text messages pretending to be from the DWP or HMRC about winter fuel payments. If you receive a text like this, do not click on any links in the message. Pensioners will automatically receive the winter fuel payment this winter if they are eligible. CINDERELLA IN CHURCH STREET! After the exuberant success of its Cinderella panto last year, Dendê Collective is returning to the magical world of pantomime — this time bigger, bolder, and with more performances than ever. Led by André Pink and the Dendê Collective team, the sessions build towards December performances at The Cockpit Theatre, Church Street Library, and Penfold Community Hub. No experience is needed. HOW TO KEEP YOUR BABY SAFE THROUGH PREGNANCY: During pregnancy, your immune system is naturally weakened, making you more vulnerable to infections. Vaccines can help protect both you and your baby from serious illness. Taking the following vaccines will help avoid complications within your pregnancy:
* Flu vaccine: The flu vaccine decreases the chances of you catching the flu.
* Whooping cough vaccine: Young babies are most at risk. It is recommended to take this vaccine before 32 weeks. (If you’ve not been offered this vaccine at 20 weeks, please contact your local GP).
* Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) vaccine: This is a common virus which may cause serious lung diseases which may make it difficult for babies to breathe. You’re encouraged to receive your RSV jab at 28 weeks.

CHANGES TO OUR COMMUNITY EQUIPMENT SERVICES

We are making some changes to our community equipment services. As of 4 August we have started transferring work to a new organisation called 24-7 Healthcare. We will be contacting residents who have equipment at home to let them know directly about these arrangements.
