It's Friday, it's MyWestminster, it's the first section so it can only mean our world-famous red banner kicking things off with the words Keeping Westminster Safe emblazoned across it like a great big emblazony thing

FAKE TOYS ‘R’ NOT US: 100 fake Labubu dolls have been seized by Westminster City Council trading standards officers. The dolls – which can retail for hundreds of pounds – were being openly marketed as Labubu dolls in two West End stores. But the dolls were fakes with eyes and feet that detach – potentially a choking hazard for small children. Council leader Adam Hug warned the dodgy dolls could prove an expensive and even fatal error: “There is a long history of counterfeiters trying to make a quick profit from the fad toy of the moment, but the Labubu fakes we found could prove a costly error. Like all counterfeits, they have a habit of falling to pieces quite quickly... if a toddler picks them up and swallows them, the results could be fatal. Our job is to ensure dangerous items get taken off the streets.”

It's not easy being green, they say, but this (mostly) green banner with the words More From the City seems to be having a pretty sweet time of it

CLEANER AIR, GREENER SPACES, HEALTHIER NEIGHBOURHOODS: This week we launched our Climate Emergency Action Plan and Progress Report (https://westminster.us1.list-manage.com/track/click?u=a50c8b0dd980669ef713b4cca&id=8abfba7a4c&e=7e37558eca) – setting out how Westminster will reach net zero and the progress we’ve made so far. Together with residents and businesses, we’ve cut council carbon emissions by 34% since 2018/19, planted inner London’s first micro-forest, and recruited 22 Climate Champions in North Paddington. Our updated plan shows how we’ll go further – creating greener homes, healthier streets and more resilient neighbourhoods.

TFL WANTS TO HEAR FROM YOU: Transport for London (TfL) has opened a six-week consultation to hear the public’s views on licensing requirements for pedicab drivers, vehicles and operators in London. We have been campaigning to tighten regulation for operators and ensure minimum safety standard for many years. These proposals bring much-needed oversight to the sector and ensure safer, licenced transport for our residents and visitors.

LAST CHANCE TO HAVE YOUR SAY ON GREENING WESTMINSTER’S STUB ROADS: We want your input on transforming underused dead-end roads (known as stub roads) into vibrant green spaces with plants, trees, and rain gardens. These changes will help reduce flooding, improve air quality, support local wildlife, and create welcoming community areas. Your views are essential to deciding which stub roads should be prioritised for greening. Don’t miss this opportunity to shape the future of your neighbourhood! The consultation closes on Thursday 25 September.
