We want to incorporate your ideas and get a sense of what activities you want that night.<br><br>Earlier this year, I talked to your parents about how I view the Grade 11 year, and I told a bicycling story of mine that happened last summer. Since I was biking up in Scotland this past weekend (yes, in the blistering rain!), I wanted to relay that story on to you because it happened again -- and it’s apropos to your journey right now. <br><br>Two things I learned:<br><br> 1) <strong>Mindset is everything</strong>. It was pouring, but my husband and I made a conscious decision that we were going to have fun no matter what… just get soaked and do the trip we planned to do, regardless of the weather… and the ride was amazing. It was gorgeous -- the hills, the farmland, the sheep, the trees, the skies --and when we stopped at an old pub, the cullen skink hit the spot. (Look it up! It’s absolutely delicious!) <br> <br>2) <strong>You are exactly where you should be on your journey. Coach yourself to stop comparing to everyone else.</strong> Just like I told your parents about a bike ride last summer, once again on Sunday, some flashy dude in bright neon spandex just dusted by me as I was plodding up some hill and my first thought was to pedal faster and WIN. I literally had to tell myself to relax and breathe… to recognize that what we were trying to experience were two completely separate things. Enjoy the ride.<br><br>We have a check-in for advisory this Thursday and then we will have regular advisory next Tuesday. Next Tuesday, most of us are going to devote the time to reflection on these first couple months of Grade 11 -- what growth you’ve seen over your high school arc and what you hope to see out of the next few months.
