This year’s trip takes place on Tuesday, 3 December, departing ASL at 7 am, and returning by 10 am. We travel in a coach, which allows us to bring back our purchases. This is a brilliant opportunity for a one-stop Christmas shop at astoundingly low prices. Trip cost is £50. <a href="http://email.mail3.veracross.com/c/eJw9jzmuwyAARE9juiAWs7igcJSfa1iEJaBgsMCJ9W8f3ESa5s1rZqzybBKjBx-zbK62khe36piW7aW4wAJRBIKi2jHvhBmNs1iQByWWCGz1QyIpKSEgqbDvWxvoPJB7z3EcULcES312aiaUki4petdJ23faL8npmmM-dTZPEBVBeMIYj5gxThjEkJMbm8ld_s1XdhOcDSM6l1H4cVWbWlqDpqygKq_XmP67Di7mGk3oPXy_zksmRZd31aec9Hsm-CT5F2blT3w">Sign up now!</a> Questions to <a href="mailto:masterclasses@asl.org">Alice Leader</a>.</span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></li><li><span style="font-size: 14px;"><span style=""><span style=""><span style=""><span style=""><span style=""><span style=""><span style=""><span style=""><span style=""><span style=""><span style=""><span style=""><span style=""><span style=""><span style=""><span style=""><span style=""><span style=""><strong>WWII History of Guernsey, Channel Islands: </strong>During the Second World War, the Channel Islands, a British dependency, were occupied by German troops. Before the occupation, which began in 1940, 80 percent of Guernsey’s children were evacuated to England to live with relatives or strangers. Some children were never reunited with their families. The occupying German forces deported more than 1,000 Guernsey residents to camps in southern Germany. Guernsey was heavily fortified during World War II, out of all proportion to the island's strategic value. To learn more, we’ll read The Guernsey Literary and Potato Pie Society, by Annie Barrows, When the Germans Came, by Duncan Barrett, and The Betrayal, by Anne Allen, and then fly to Guernsey to explore for ourselves.
