Hello Antonella

Happy Valentine's day in advance! Make sure to spread the love and bonding hormone oxytocin ❤️which is great for our mental health -- reducing stress, low mood, and anxiety! For more on how to boost oxytocin, see below.

Speaking of hormones and neurotransmitters, in my latest interview for The MindHealth360 Show (https://hs-4969009.t.hubspotstarter-hr.net/e2t/sc2/MmZ-8ykFBkcW6b_Q_666zHGTW8xYDys8tLRpvW43bSBW6TjB6TdBzP8N04 ) , founder of Lifecode Gx, Emma Beswick, shares how our genes impact our mental health via key biochemical pathways. Discover some of the genetic variants that are particularly important for mental health, and some of the key nutrients and lifestyle habits that can support our genetic expression for optimal mental health.

How your genes impact your mental health, and how to use nutrigenomics to optimise your mental health

In this interview:

- Learn about the key genes for mental health and how their variants can impact mental health -- COMT, MTHFR, APOE4
- Find out how nutrigenomics -- the study of the interaction between our genes and their variants, and our nutrition and lifestyle -- can help us optimise our mental health
- Discover the various biochemical causes combined with genetic predisposition which can lead to anxiety and depression
- Find out why SSRIs often don’t work for depression
- Explore the psychological pros and cons of genetic testing

Oxytocin, the love hormone which helps our mental health

For Valentine's Day this weekend, we wanted to highlight the love and bonding hormone, oxytocin, and its importance for mental health.

Studies have shown that oxytocin decreases anxiety, depression[1][2], stress and pain.[3] It also has strong links with serotonin, the happy hormone, as they enhance each other’s production.[4]

Ways to boost your oxytocin include spending quality time with loved ones, giving gifts, saying I love you, giving and receiving massages and hugs, or if you're alone (or even if you're not!) doing yoga, connecting on social media (yes!), watching an uplifting movie, meditating, spending time with pets, and listening to music.[5][6] Enjoy!
