Today we reveal the first events of Jewish Book Week 2023, taking place at Kings Place & online from 25 February to 5 March

We're excited to reveal the first dozen of the 80+ talks, Q&As, musical performances, debates, workshops, staged readings and panel discussions for our 72nd annual festival - and you can book tickets now!

Announced today for our opening Sunday are five in-hall events at London's Kings Place: leading human rights barrister Adam Wagner discusses the
unprecedented legal impact of the pandemic in Lockdowns, Laws & Lost
Freedoms; TV producer Natasha Lance Rogoff shares her startling story of
bringing Sesame Street to the former Soviet Union; Wendy Joseph tells Joshua Rozenberg about her tenure as one of just 16 judges licensed to try murder cases at the Old Bailey; sculptor Maurice Blik reveals how surviving the horrors of Bergen-Belsen impacted his life and work; and Matti Friedman delves into the unique story of a music icon on the frontlines of the Yom Kippur War in Leonard Cohen in the Sinai.

Then on our second Sunday (5 March): veteran New Yorker theatre critic John Lahr and The Crucible director Nicholas Hytner discuss Arthur Miller; we look at fiction, folklore, horror and more with rising literary stars Leon Craig and A.M. Moskovitz in Short Stories/Tall Tales; educator Ben M. Freeman and CST head of policy Dave Rich join for Jewish Pride Amid Rising Hate;
Jonathan Freedland in conversation with Tracy Chevalier; and to close the festival, the special Shylock: Merchant & Matriarch featuring readings from a radical new production of The Merchant of Venice and discussion with Tracy-Ann Oberman, Anthony Julius, Brigid Larmour and Kate Maltby.

And two online events are part of the early release: Golda Meir’s Path to Power with biographer Pnina Lahav and historian Trudy Gold on 1 March; and Kei Hiruta and Dennis Davis with Hannah Arendt & Isaiah Berlin: The Feud, our free morning event on 2 March.

CHANUKAH FAMILY DAY
Sunday 18 December, 11am - 4.30pm, Jewish Museum London

For the price of regular Museum admission, join us for a special morning and afternoon of author talks and activities for all ages! There's comedy writer Ivor Baddiel with Football Fun, picture book author Jodie-Lancet Grant with The Marvellous Doctors for Magical Creatures, Einstein the Penguin creator Iona Rangely and YA novelist Debra Barnes. Plus donut-making, dreidel-spinning, Chanukiah-lighting, Museum tours and short talks for adults and older children! All activities are free to ticket holders and will be run on a first-come, first-served basis.
